On February 12, 2008, Science Channel, Discovery Education and Comcast presented students at the Independence Charter School in Philadelphia with an interactive science assembly and a $5,000 donation to kick off the Science Matters! initiative. Councilman Frank DiCicco was on-hand to show his support for the initiative.
